BEIRUT (Dunya News) - Israeli attacks continued in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire, leaving at least five people dead and 21 others injured amid renewed violence that has heightened tensions in the border region.
According to Arab media reports, Israeli forces carried out overnight strikes in the southern Lebanese town of Jibshit, where multiple civilians were wounded, including four children and nine women.
In a separate air strike in Khirbet سلم, a Lebanese soldier and his brother were killed, according to reports, in an attack that further intensified concerns over continued hostilities despite the truce.
The Lebanese military said the two brothers were targeted while travelling home on a motorcycle, describing the strike as part of continuing Israeli military operations in the south.
Reports said Israeli drone activity and artillery shelling remained ongoing across parts of southern Lebanon, with additional air strikes also reported in the Ghandourieh area.
The latest attacks have fuelled fears of further escalation, with residents facing continued insecurity as ceasefire violations persist.
Officials and observers say the continued strikes have undermined hopes that the truce would lead to calm, as violence in the region shows little sign of easing.
The casualties included civilians, raising renewed humanitarian concerns over the impact of cross-border hostilities on populated areas.
Regional tensions have remained high in recent months, with repeated exchanges and military actions threatening broader instability.
Security analysts say continued violations could complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving the ceasefire and preventing a wider conflict.
The latest developments come amid growing international concern over the fragile security situation along the Lebanon-Israel frontier.
