ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has directed all provinces to submit progress reports on the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) on an urgent basis following decisions taken at the Apex Committee.

According to official directives, provinces and relevant federal institutions have been given a deadline of May 4 to submit performance reports detailing progress on key action points under the counter-extremism framework.

Authorities instructed all stakeholders to provide updated progress on assigned measures, while the Ministry of Planning has been tasked with a central monitoring role in the socio-political domain.

A uniform reporting format has been issued for provinces and federal institutions to ensure standardised submissions, with reports ordered to be sent directly to the Apex Committee Secretariat.

Sources said recommendations could be made for action against officials in cases of delayed or inadequate reporting.

Detailed reports have also been sought on sensitive action points, including measures related to narrative building, coordination and steps taken in the socio-political domain under assigned tasks.

The government has ordered data collection for a comprehensive review of NAP implementation to be presented in an upcoming meeting, while a progress report has also been sought on the National Counter Violent Extremism initiative.

Updates have been requested on madrassa registration and implementation of mosque and seminary reforms, as well as on equitable distribution of resources and development initiatives in underdeveloped areas.

Authorities have also sought point-wise reports on steps taken to counter extremist and terrorist narratives, implementation progress on assigned tasks, and monitoring of banned organisations’ activities.

Officials say the exercise is aimed at assessing implementation gaps and strengthening coordination between federal and provincial authorities in addressing security and extremism-related challenges.
