Wildlife Rangers seize 150 pigeons smuggled from Dubai at Lahore Airport

Wildlife authorities seized 150 smuggled pigeons at Lahore Airport and launched actions against illegal hunters in Punjab.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Wildlife Rangers Lahore and Customs officials seized 150 pigeons illegally brought from Dubai at Lahore Airport and arrested one suspect, while the birds were later released on court orders.

According to details, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Lahore Region Sakhi Muhammad Joiya, while Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Lahore Muhammad Waseem joined Customs officials in the raid.

The pigeons were released immediately on the orders of the duty magistrate due to fears of disease spreading among other wild birds.

Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect for violating the Wildlife Act.

In a separate operation, Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Bhakkar Muhammad Tariq and his team arrested an illegal hunter of wild birds, imposed a fine of Rs65,000 and seized two quail netting gears. An FIR was also registered against the suspects.

In another raid, Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Bahawalpur Tariq Abbas Khosa and his team acted on information about illegal hunting. The suspect fled after abandoning his gun, which was taken into custody, while an FIR was registered at the local police station.
