Azma says 88,000 families to benefit from 'Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar' scheme

Punjab launches 'Apna Khet Apna Rozgar' to boost agriculture and jobs. Azma Bokhari says 88,000 families will benefit from leased land and government support initiatives.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” program is a major initiative for strengthening agriculture and the economy of Punjab.

Azma Bokhari stated that several projects have been launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to create employment opportunities for the public, aiming to boost the province’s economy and agricultural sector.

She said that during the current government’s tenure, significant and exemplary steps have been taken in various sectors.

The “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” program is a key project under which barren land will be converted into cultivable land.

She explained that under this initiative, government land worth approximately Rs160 billion will be leased for 10 years, benefiting more than 88,000 families.

The land will be used strictly for farming purposes, and farmers will also be provided guidance.

She further stated that wheat production in Punjab has exceeded the set target, reflecting the success of agricultural policies.

The minister added that over 900 applications have been received so far for the leased land.

Farmers are being provided land worth Rs2.5 to Rs4 million, with plots ranging from one to five acres in some areas.

Additionally, a one-time grant of Rs50,000 will also be given.

Azma Bokhari said that initiatives like the Kisan Card and Green Tractors are also playing an important role in agricultural development.

She also revealed that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of a film city, for which 50 acres of land have already been allocated, and the project will include modern studios and facilities.

Moreover, the information minister said that the Punjab government will not abandon affected people and will continue public welfare projects without interruption.
