Bangladesh name squad for first Test against Pakistan

Bangladesh have named a 15-member squad for the first Test against Pakistan in Dhaka, with two uncapped players included alongside experienced campaigners.

DHAKA (Dunya News) - Bangladesh national cricket team have announced a 15-member squad for the opening Test against Pakistan national cricket team, with Najmul Hossain Shanto set to lead the side.

The first Test is scheduled to begin on May 8 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Vice-captain duties will be handled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while experienced players including Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Mominul Haque and Shadman Islam have also been included.

Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam have returned to the squad, while newcomers Tanzid Hasan and Amit Hasan earned maiden Test call-ups.

Selectors said the inclusion of fresh talent alongside experienced campaigners is aimed at strengthening Bangladesh ahead of the two-match series.

Bangladesh, currently eighth in the ICC World Test Championship standings, will be looking to improve their position with a strong performance against Pakistan.

The second Test is scheduled to be played in Sylhet from May 16 to 20.
