PM Shehbaz, President Pezeshkian discuss regional situation amid US-Iran talks

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation on Saturday, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The two leaders spoke for approximately 50 minutes, during which they exchanged detailed views on the current regional situation and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.

During the call, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the participation of a high-level Iranian delegation in the talks held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, 2026.

He also welcomed Iran’s decision to send a delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, which met with the prime minister and other key figures, including a detailed two-hour meeting with him.

The prime minister briefed the Iranian president on his recent diplomatic engagements, stating that outreach to various global leaders had helped build broader consensus in support of dialogue and diplomacy for sustainable peace in the region.

Shehbaz Sharif also praised the constructive discussions held with Iranian leadership during the recent visit of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Tehran earlier this month.

He conveyed his best wishes and respects to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to regional peace.
