Lahore triple murder case: Mother confesses to killing her three children

Updated on:

Police in Lahore say a mother has confessed to killing her three children in Ichhra, as disturbing details emerge from the ongoing investigation.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A harrowing triple murder in Lahore has taken a grim turn after police confirmed that a woman has confessed to killing her three young children in the Ichhra neighbourhood.

The development follows initial investigations into the gruesome murder that had already shocked the city.

According to officials, the bodies of two girls and one boy were discovered inside their home earlier this week, all killed by having their throats slit. Rescue teams and police responded swiftly after receiving an emergency call, securing the scene and launching a detailed inquiry.

The victims, aged between one and nine, were identified as five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza and one-and-a-half-year-old Umm Habiba. Their deaths prompted widespread grief and alarm across the area, with forensic teams collecting evidence and transferring the bodies for post-mortem examinations.

In a major breakthrough, the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) in Lahore stated that initial findings indicate the children were killed by their mother. During preliminary questioning, she reportedly admitted to the killings, although authorities say further investigation is ongoing to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police sources revealed that the suspect had allegedly been under significant domestic strain. It is claimed that her husband frequently taunted her regarding the children, contributing to ongoing tensions within the household. Investigators also said the woman had purchased a knife three days prior to the incident, which is believed to have been used in the killings.

Further details suggest that the woman had initially planned to take her own life before the attack. According to police sources, she feared that if she died, the children’s father might expel them from the home. Additional allegations have surfaced that her husband pressured her into inappropriate relationships with others, though these claims are still being examined by investigators.

Authorities also reported that a heated argument took place the night before the killings between the mother and her mother-in-law. The dispute reportedly escalated, and the children’s uncle later arrived at the house, where he allegedly verbally abused the woman.

A spokesperson for Punjab Police said senior officers and forensic experts remain engaged in the investigation, with multiple angles being pursued. Police teams continue to gather evidence to corroborate statements and establish a complete sequence of events.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Abdul Karim, has already taken notice of the incident and directed authorities to ensure a thorough and swift investigation. Special teams have been formed to handle the case as it unfolds.
