Pakistan, China reaffirm strategic ties as Middle East situation discussed in high-level meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad to discuss Middle East developments and Pakistan’s peace efforts, reaffirming strong bilateral ties.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, in Islamabad, where discussions centred on the evolving situation in the Middle East and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the depth and resilience of Pakistan-China relations, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two countries. He reiterated that Pakistan places high importance on its ties with China and remains committed to working closely with the Chinese leadership to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

PM Shehbaz also conveyed his best wishes for the leadership of China, extending goodwill to both the Chinese President and Prime Minister, while reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to enhance bilateral engagement in line with shared regional and global objectives.

The discussion further touched upon the broader geopolitical situation, with particular emphasis on developments in the Middle East. Both sides reviewed Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and peace efforts aimed at de-escalation and stability in the region, underscoring the importance of coordinated international engagement.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic role in advocating peace and stability in regional affairs. He acknowledged Islamabad’s efforts in promoting dialogue and restraint amid complex geopolitical tensions.

The envoy also reaffirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening its long-standing friendship with Pakistan. Both sides expressed confidence in the continued growth of their strategic partnership, which remains anchored in mutual trust, shared interests, and regular high-level exchanges.
