Meta takes crucial step to train AI models

Updated on:

Meta is installing a tracking software on employees’ computers to get data for AI models training.

(Web Desk) - Meta has reportedly taken a new and unusual step to improve the training of its artificial intelligence systems.

Meta is installing a tracking software on employees’ computers in the United States. The tool is designed to record mouse movements, clicks, and keyboard usage patterns.

The move is part of a broader strategy to develop advanced AI models capable of performing office and everyday tasks more autonomously in the future.

Company documents suggest that the tool will only be active on work-related applications and websites. In some cases, it may also capture screenshots of the screen to better understand context for AI training purposes.

The collected data will be used by Meta’s AI research teams, including the Meta Superintelligence Labs, to improve model development.

The aim of this initiative is to address current limitations in AI systems, such as selecting correct options from dropdown menus or effectively using keyboard shortcuts.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said that studying how employees perform everyday tasks can help improve AI performance.

He clarified that the data will not be used to evaluate employee performance but solely for AI training, and that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect sensitive information.

He added that if the company wants to build AI agents capable of using computers like humans, it needs real-world examples of how people interact with systems—such as how they move a mouse, click buttons, and navigate menus.
