SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain visited Sialkot and inaugurated the fourth edition of the Technology and Innovation Summit 2026, organised by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and the Surgical Association.
During his visit, the provincial minister toured various stalls at the industrial exhibition and showed keen interest in the products on display.
Addressing the opening ceremony, he said that industrial infrastructure across Punjab’s key hubs is being upgraded under an integrated programme, adding that significant progress has been made over the past two years. He noted that the province offers a favourable environment for both local and foreign investment, with international investors increasingly prioritising Punjab.
He further announced that a major initiative to provide essential facilities in 24 small industrial estates across Punjab will be launched this year. New industrial estates are also being developed in line with the needs of industrialists.
Referring specifically to Sialkot, he said the existing industrial estate is fully occupied, and land will soon be identified for a new estate to support further expansion.
The minister highlighted that Sialkot’s surgical instruments are being exported to Europe, the United States and other regions, adding that a “Surgical City” project is under consideration. He also confirmed that discussions are underway with the federal government regarding the development of an export processing zone.
Concluding his address, he congratulated the organisers on successfully hosting the exhibition and directed that next year’s event be extended to two days instead of one.
