ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for a joint strategy between the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence.
The meeting focused on improving passenger facilitation at airports and strengthening the security system.
It was attended by Federal Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, Defence Secretary Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Ali, Additional Secretary Interior Maj Gen Noor Wali Khan, Additional Secretary Defence Maj Gen Qaiser Suleman, Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Maj Gen Abdul Mueed, and DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar, along with other senior officials.
It was decided that effective coordination and communication between all relevant institutions will be ensured to provide quick and smooth services to passengers.
The meeting agreed to modernize airport screening systems by installing advanced machinery, while also introducing joint counters and a unified screening system where all agencies will operate from a single point.
Progress on the installation of e-gates was also reviewed, which will enable faster clearance and reduce immigration processing time for passengers.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that joint screening of all departments through a single scanner will save time, and improved coordination will significantly reduce queues and waiting time at airports. He added that providing modern, fast, and easy travel facilities to the public remains the government’s priority.
The Defence Secretary informed the meeting that modern equipment is being imported to prevent bird strikes and reduce the risk of accidents involving aircraft at airports.
