Shehbaz thanks Trump for accepting Pakistan's request to extend ceasefire

He expressed hope that the parties involved would succeed in concluding a comprehensive peace deal during the second round of talks in Islamabad to permanently resolve the conflict.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for accepting the request to extend the ceasefire with Iran.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that on behalf of himself and Field Marshal Asim Munir, he thanks President Trump for agreeing to extend the ceasefire.

He expressed hope that the parties involved would succeed in concluding a comprehensive peace deal during the second round of talks in Islamabad to permanently resolve the conflict.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan will continue all out efforts to promote a negotiated resolution to disputes and expressed confidence that all parties will uphold the ceasefire.

It is worth noting that earlier, President Trump had stated in a message that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had requested a halt to attacks until a mutually agreed proposal is received from the Iranian leadership, and that attacks on Iran were being stopped at their request.
