FIA exposes a multi-billion rupee theft scandal at Pakistan Steel Mills, implicating employees and scrap dealers in an organised network of illegal removals.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A major corruption scandal involving organised theft worth billions of rupees has been uncovered at Pakistan Steel Mills, according to officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Investigations revealed that valuable machinery, cables, scrap material and key infrastructure were allegedly removed from the steel mills without proper gate passes over an extended period.

Officials said the operation was carried out by a well-organised network involving internal employees, security personnel and scrap dealers, pointing to a deep-rooted nexus within the institution.

The FIA spokesperson further disclosed that although an FIR had been registered, it was initially downgraded to a “C class” case, raising concerns about attempts to suppress the matter. However, authorities have now intensified efforts to pursue those involved.

Key suspects and facilitators have been identified, and the investigation is expanding to ensure accountability. The agency has vowed strict action, stating that those responsible for looting national assets will not be spared.
