ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The government has launched a nationwide upskilling programme “AI Seekho 2026” through which it plans to train the country’s young population in artificial intelligence and provide them with economic opportunities, state-run media reported on Monday.
Pakistan’s information ministry has launched the AI Seekho program in partnership with Google for Developers, Telenor Pakistan and leading IT company Innovista, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan said.
It said the programme is designed to introduce hands-on “vibe coding” technique— which refers to the practice of prompting AI tools to generate code rather than writing it manually— using tools such as Google AI Studio and Antigravity.
“The programme will connect participants with National Incubation Centers, Pakistan Startup Fund and global platforms, providing them with economic opportunities,” Radio Pakistan said.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government aims to train over a million people in artificial intelligence.
She said that under the AI Seekho programme, the IT ministry with Google’s support, has set a target to upskill over 100,000 developers.
“So the understanding is that artificial intelligence and technology today is not just for the tech people, it is equally important for the non-tech community,” she said in a video clip shared by Radio Pakistan.
Pakistan has attempted to make inroads in AI recently, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announcing in February that the government will invest $1 billion in AI by 2030 to modernize the digital economy.
Pakistan also approved its National AI Policy in July last year, which was followed by the launch of the country’s sovereign AI cloud and a startup fund.
