KARACHI (Dunya News) - Police have taken action against the cheating mafia operating during matric board examinations and arrested four ringleaders involved in paper leak operations.
According to the CIA police, the suspects were arrested from Malir, Surjani, New Karachi, and Gulshan areas. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mubeen Khan, Osama, Bilal, and Abdul Razzaq.
Police officials said that ringleader Mubeen Khan alone has 13 groups comprising around 13,000 student members. He is reportedly a final-year cybersecurity student at Sindh Madressatul Islam. Other arrested suspects also include an intermediate student.
Investigations reveal that the accused were already extorting large sums of money from students in exchange for leaked exam papers. They used to guarantee paper leaks a night before exams and collected payments through various online banking channels.
Authorities further stated that the cheating network had adopted new methods, conducting the practice not only near examination centres but also by arranging paper-solving sessions at students’ homes. Secret spots near exam centres were also being used for the illegal activity.
Police said that hefty amounts were being charged for facilitating cheating, with reports suggesting up to Rs40,000 being taken from a single student.
Officials added that further investigations are currently underway after the arrests.
