TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran has announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial vessels following the ceasefire in Lebanon.
In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the strategic waterway has been reopened to all commercial ships and will remain fully operational for the duration of the ceasefire.
He added that commercial maritime traffic will continue during this period; however, vessels will be required to follow pre-designated coordinated routes set by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.
In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global transit route for oil shipments, and any disruption or restoration of access to it has direct implications for the global economy.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his official visit to Tehran.
President Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s effective and responsible role in peace efforts. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were also present at the meeting.

The meeting touched upon issues such as the ceasefire between the US and Iran and the signing of a peace agreement. Both leaders also exchanged views on the second phase of the Islamabad talks.
He said Pakistan’s role in stopping the war was commendable and thanked the State of Pakistan for facilitating the ceasefire.
He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality during the Islamabad negotiations and hosting the Iranian delegation.
