WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - United States President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon following talks with regional leaders.
The US president said he held excellent discussions with Lebanon’s Joseph Aoun and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a statement on social media, Donald Trump said both leaders had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire aimed at achieving peace between their countries.
He added that representatives from Israel and Lebanon held their first meeting in 34 years in Washington on Tuesday, which was attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to Trump, he has directed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine to work with Israel and Lebanon toward achieving lasting peace.
The US president further claimed that he has played a role in ending nine conflicts around the world and described this as his tenth effort, which he is determined to see through to completion.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday met Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during his visit to Tehran amid peace talks.
According to media, the meeting took place in the Iranian capital, where both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest.

A day earlier, Asim Munir had also met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
During the meeting, Abbas Araghchi thanked Pakistan for hosting negotiations and said that both countries share a strong and common commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, reflecting their deep bilateral ties.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit to Tehran is part of ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
