NAROWAL (Dunya News) - Sikh pilgrims from all over the world reached Kartarpur Sahib to participate in Baisakhi celebrations here on Wednesday.
They were warmly welcomed by DC and DPO Malik Naveed and district officers. On this occasion, flowers were showered on them.
Narowal DC said Pakistan is a land of love and peace, adding serving Sikh pilgrims is an honour for the people of Pakistan.
He said the arrival of international pilgrims promotes cultural harmony, peace, tolerance and love. Earlier, 2,238 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrived at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib to participate in the Baisakhi festival.
The Sikh pilgrims’ group, led by their leader Sardar Surjeet Singh, reached Gurdwara Janam Asthan. The pilgrims were brought to Nankana Sahib via special buses.
Strict security arrangements were put in place for their arrival. The Indian Sikh pilgrims will stay in Nankana Sahib for three days.
Earlier in the day, Sikh pilgrims from India reached Pakistan via the Wagah Border where they were warmly received by Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and Additional Secretary Shrines Evacuee Trust Property Board Nasir Mushtaq.
The main Baisakhi ceremony was held on April 14 at Gurdwara Panja Sahib. The India Sikh pilgrims are scheduled to return on April 19.
