Court extends Dr Fazeela Abbasi’s interim bail till April 20, orders investigation participation, FIA submits challan, joint account issue raised.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A special court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of renowned dermatologist Dr Fazeela Abbasi, sister of actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, until April 20 in a money laundering case.

The hearing was conducted by Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar, during which the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted the challan (charge sheet) before the court.

During proceedings, Dr Fazeela Abbasi filed a request seeking the reopening of a joint bank account she holds with Hamza Ali Abbasi, which had previously been frozen by the FIA.

The prosecutor informed the court that a written response had been submitted on behalf of the accused; however, she did not appear personally. In response, Dr Fazeela Abbasi stated that she had appeared before the court multiple times.

At this point, her counsel, Naeem Bukhari, advised her to remain silent in court and avoid direct communication with the judge in the presence of legal representation. He argued that the impression of misuse of bail was incorrect and noted that the High Court had also acknowledged this position.

Judge Humayun Dilawar remarked that the bail decision must align with High Court directives and emphasized that the accused must join the investigation process.

Subsequently, the court restrained authorities from arresting Dr Fazeela Abbasi until April 20 and directed her to join the investigation the same day. The hearing was adjourned until April 20.

It is pertinent to note that the FIA has already frozen the joint bank account of Dr Fazeela Abbasi and Hamza Ali Abbasi as part of the ongoing investigation.
