US vice president praises Pakistan's role in Iran–US talks

US VP JD Vance praised Pakistan for facilitating Iran–US talks, crediting Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif for hosting and helping enable dialogue between the two countries.

WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - The United States Vice President JD Vance has praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States, stating that Islamabad played an important and positive part in the diplomatic process.

In a statement, he said he would like to give special credit to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for demonstrating exceptional leadership and hosting capabilities.

He added that both leaders showed strong state-level vision in helping enable dialogue between the United States and Iran, which had not engaged in serious negotiations for a long time.

The US Vice President noted that Pakistan’s hosting and diplomatic efforts played a key role in bringing both sides to the negotiating table, raising hopes for reduced tensions in the region.

According to analysts, Pakistan’s role is being viewed internationally as a major diplomatic success, enhancing the country’s importance and potentially opening new pathways for peace in the region.
