LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 16 terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during a series of intelligence-based operations across Punjab.
According to a CTD spokesperson, a total of 113 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted in multiple cities, including Khushab, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Bhakkar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, and Gujranwala.
During an operation in Jhang, a suicide bomber identified as Ghazi Marjan, linked to Fitna al Khawarij, was arrested along with a suicide jacket and explosive materials. In a separate operation in Sargodha, another suspect, Maley Khan, allegedly involved in attacks on sensitive installations, was also taken into custody.
CTD officials stated that the arrested suspects had finalized plans to target police check posts, but timely action by authorities successfully foiled their plans.
Authorities recovered explosive materials, suicide vests, 14 detonators, 25 feet of safety fuse wire, banned stickers, extremist literature, and cash from the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghazi Marjan, Moeen Khan, Aseel Din, Nasir Shah, Naseeb Khan, Abrar, Yousaf, Maley Khan, Osama, and others.
In addition, CTD carried out 2,830 combing operations during the week, questioning 95,755 individuals and detaining 190 suspects.
Officials reaffirmed that operations against terrorism will continue across Punjab without interruption.
