ATC orders restoration of Aleema Khan’s CNIC in 26 Nov protest case, accepts exemption plea, adjourns hearing till April 20 and summons accused and IO for next hearing.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordered on Monday the restoration of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) of Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah in Rawalpindi in connection with the November 26 protest case against Aleema Khan.

During the proceedings, arguments were completed on her exemption from personal appearance.

Public Prosecutor Zahir Ali Shah opposed her continuous absence from court, stating that she had not appeared for the last two months and the legal proceedings should move forward accordingly.

However, the defence counsel argued that Aleema Khan’s CNIC had been blocked, causing her difficulties in movement and daily affairs, and requested the court to order its restoration.

After hearing both sides, the court accepted Aleema Khan’s request for exemption from appearance and adjourned the case until April 20.

The court also directed that Aleema Khan and the investigation officer appear at the next hearing and instructed the defence to complete cross-examination of the last witness.

The court further issued orders for the restoration of Aleema Khan’s blocked CNIC.
