LHC seeks report on crackdown against kite flying violations

LHC seeks details on kite flying ban violations, FIRs, seized kites disposal, pricing mechanism, and reports on deaths/injuries; hearing adjourned till April 23

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court heard petitions filed against kite flying despite a ban.

Justice Awais Khalid conducted the hearing on petitions filed by the Judicial Activism Panel.

During the proceedings, SSP Investigation Taqeer Ahmed and the Deputy Commissioner Lahore appeared before the court.

The court sought complete details of cases registered against violators of kite flying laws.

The court inquired whether the seized kites and strings would be burned or if any alternative procedure would be adopted.

It also sought clarification on the mechanism used for determining the prices of kites and strings.

The court further directed authorities to submit a complete report on deaths and injuries caused by kite flying incidents and instructed that effective measures be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.

The hearing was adjourned until April 23.
