TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that the United States failed to gain Iran’s trust during recent negotiations, while expressing gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating the dialogue process.
In a statement shared on X, Ghalibaf said the opposing side was unable to win the confidence of the Iranian delegation despite constructive engagement. He noted that Iran had entered the talks with goodwill and a clear intent, but past experiences, including recent conflicts, have made trust difficult.
He added that members of the Iranian delegation presented forward-looking proposals during the negotiations, emphasizing that it is now up to the United States to decide whether it can build trust with Iran based on its actions.
“America has understood our logic and principles, and now it's time for it to decide whether it can earn our trust or not?,” Bagher wrotre.
Ghalibaf stressed that Iran views diplomacy, alongside military preparedness, as a means to safeguard national interests and protect the rights of its people. He reaffirmed that efforts to strengthen Iran’s national defense would continue without pause.
The Iranian leader also thanked Pakistan for its role in facilitating the talks and extended his greetings to the Pakistani people.
“I am also grateful for the efforts of our friendly and brotherly country, Pakistan, in facilitating the process of these negotiations, and I send my regards to the people of Pakistan”, he wrote.
Highlighting national unity, he praised the resilience of the Iranian public, stating that millions supported the country’s leadership and the negotiating team during the intense 21-hour discussions.
He expressed appreciation for his delegation’s efforts and reaffirmed commitment to Iran’s sovereignty and long-term stability.
