Munim Zafar criticizes PPP for 18 years of unfulfilled Lyari promises, alleging corruption, poor infrastructure, and announcing a campaign for residents’ rights.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Munim Zafar has said that promises to turn Lyari into Paris have been repeated for the past 18 years without fulfillment.

Speaking to the media at Lyari Eight Chowk in Karachi, he said that Nasir Hussain Shah announced the Lyari Transmission Project, along with commitments to rebuild roads, improve the sewerage system, and ensure the supply of clean water.

However, he added that these promises have been repeatedly made by the Pakistan Peoples Party over the last 18 years.

He alleged that every new development package introduced in Lyari turns into a source of corruption.

He further stated that Lyari Town remains under the control of the Pakistan Peoples Party, and each union council in the area was allocated funds of two crore rupees.

According to him, 13 union councils received a total of 52 crore rupees over the past two years.

Munim Zafar questioned what tangible work has been done in Lyari over the last three years by the town administration or the local government minister, claiming that the people of Lyari have been repeatedly deceived.

He said that Lyari still lags far behind in development and announced the launch of a campaign titled “Haq Do Lyari Ki Awam Ko” to demand basic rights for the residents.
