KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Police have decided to establish a dedicated aerial surveillance division to strengthen monitoring across the province, including urban areas, highways, railway tracks, and riverine regions.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, who formed a committee of senior officers to develop standard operating procedures, an operational framework, and the organizational structure for the new unit.
During the session, DIG IT Imran Yaqub briefed participants on existing aerial monitoring systems, including the use of drones, modern equipment, and associated training requirements.
IG Odho emphasized that aerial and digital surveillance has become essential in modern policing. He noted that the introduction of advanced technology would improve efficiency, transparency, and public trust in law enforcement.
According to officials, the proposed system will support timely crime prevention by identifying suspicious activities and enabling swift response, particularly in sensitive and remote areas.
Authorities also believe the initiative will enhance traffic management, assist in crowd control, and provide better protection for citizens and their property across the province.
