NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh on Friday said that Pakistan has maintained its long-standing positive tradition by carrying out diplomatic efforts adding that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aim at easing tensions.
While speaking in the NBC’s well-known programme “Meet the Press”, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh stated that high-level diplomatic efforts regarding the ceasefire and negotiation process were ongoing.
He said that during this diplomatic process, Pakistan received support and assistance from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and other partners. He added that a constructive spirit prevailed in the negotiation process initiated in Islamabad, and that dialogue and mutual understanding would help resolve issues.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh further stated that Pakistan is essentially playing the role of a facilitator, while the responsibility for resolving outstanding matters lies with the concerned parties. He noted that both Pakistan and the international community are hoping for a peaceful resolution of the conflict, and emphasized that diplomacy should be given a full opportunity at this time.
