WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - US President Donald Trump has warned that military strikes against Iran could resume if planned negotiations fail in Islamabad.
Speaking about the Iran-US talks in Islamabad, Trump said it would become clear within the next 24 hours whether the negotiations succeed or not.
In a telephonic interview with New York Post, Trump stated that if the talks do not succeed, the United States would launch military action with greater intensity than before.
He further claimed that Iran “has no real leverage,” adding that its only influence lies in short-term pressure tactics in global waterways.
The US president also remarked that ongoing negotiations are the only reason Iran has avoided further conflict, accusing Iranian authorities of relying more on media narratives and public relations than on direct confrontation.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Pakistan, where he is set to lead the American delegation in upcoming Iran–US negotiations being held in Islamabad under Pakistan’s mediation.
Speaking prior to his departure, Vance stated that he is participating in the talks in line with the guidelines of President Donald Trump, expressing confidence that the negotiations with Iran will yield positive outcomes.
