Matriculation exams in Rawalpindi city have been postponed at 64 centres, while exams continue elsewhere.

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has postponed matriculation examinations scheduled for Friday in Rawalpindi city, while exams in other districts of the division will proceed as planned.

According to BISE spokesperson Arslan Cheema, examinations at 64 centres across the city have been deferred. However, candidates appearing in other districts of Rawalpindi Division will continue to sit their papers as per the original schedule.

The postponed papers include Urdu Compulsory and Urdu Compulsory (Dars-e-Nizami Group) in the morning session, as well as Urdu Compulsory and Geography of Pakistan in the evening session. A revised date sheet will be announced later, and students will be informed accordingly.

Separately, authorities took strict action against examination staff in Murree over alleged malpractice. The Controller of Examinations removed five officials – including the superintendent, deputy superintendent, invigilator and an IT teacher — for reportedly assisting candidates during exams.

The action followed a surprise inspection at Government High School Ghora Gali, where irregularities were uncovered during ongoing chemistry and general science papers. Officials discovered that an adjacent room was being misused, and solved answer sheets of three candidates were recovered from the IT teacher.

Initial assumptions suggested the candidates had completed their exams, but it was later found that less than half the allotted time had passed, indicating a serious breach of examination rules.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan ordered the immediate removal of the staff involved, while Commissioner and BISE Chairman Engineer Amir Khattak expressed strong displeasure over the incident.

He directed authorities to initiate transparent and merit-based disciplinary proceedings under the relevant laws, warning that corruption and mismanagement in the examination system would not be tolerated. An inquiry has been ordered, and a detailed report will be submitted to prevent such incidents in future.
