Maryam Nawaz approves Cyber Crime Unit to combat harassment

CM Maryam Nawaz has approved Cyber Crime Unit. Victims of blackmail and harassment will get mobile reporting and virtual police station support with hidden identity across Punjab area.

LAHORE (Web Desk) -  Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the establishment of a Cyber Crime Unit.

Important decisions regarding cybercrime were taken in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, and approval was granted for the Punjab Cyber Crime Unit.

During the briefing, it was informed that after the approval of the Punjab Cyber Crime Unit, children victims of blackmail and harassment will not need to go to a police station or any office to lodge complaints.

It was further informed that a mobile unit will visit affected minor boys and girls for registration of complaints.

Victims, especially women, will also be able to lodge complaints through a virtual police station, while their identities will be kept completely confidential.

It was also decided that legislation will be introduced to ensure exemplary punishment for criminals.
