DERA GHAZI KHAN (Dunya News) Former Punjab governor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has passed away at the age of 90, family sources confirmed on Thursday night.
He was under treatment at a private hospital in Lahore where he breathed his last on Thursday. His funeral prayer will be held in Dera Ghazi Khan, while its schedule will be announced later.
Khosa belonged to an influential political family of Dera Ghazi Khan and remained active in national politics for several decades. Born on October 20, 1935, he entered politics at a young age and began his parliamentary career in 1962 as a member of the West Pakistan Assembly.
He was elected multiple times as a member of the Punjab Assembly and held key ministerial portfolios, including education, irrigation, finance, local government, and planning and development. He also served as governor of Punjab for a brief period in 1999.
His son, Dost Muhammad Khosa, is also a prominent political figure and has previously served as chief minister of Punjab.
Political and social circles have expressed deep sorrow over his demise, paying tribute to his long-standing public service.
