LAHORE (Dunya News) – The results of the 8th grade examinations in Punjab have been officially announced. Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat inaugurated the online portal for students to check their results, which are now available on pectaa.edu.pk for public school students.
According to the minister, the overall pass percentage stands at 88 percent. He noted that board-style examinations for Grade 8 have been reinstated in Punjab after a long gap, with nearly 100,000 students appearing in the exams.
Rana Sikandar Hayat highlighted that the results were compiled within a record period of 30 days. For the first time in Pakistan, papers were checked using technology-based machine marking, ensuring transparency in the assessment process. He added that this system will also be implemented in matric and intermediate examinations.
The education minister also announced honorariums for the assessment team, while Punjab Chief Minister extended congratulations to successful students through a social media message.
The exams were conducted under the Punjab Examination Commission. Officials stated that the reintroduction of board-style exams aims to better evaluate students' performance. The minister further revealed that artificial intelligence-assisted marking has been introduced for the first time in the country, enhancing transparency. QR codes were also added to exam papers to ensure complete traceability and accountability in the examination system.
