Shashi Tharoor praises Pakistan’s role in the US-Iran ceasefire as a key diplomatic achievement, warning that India risks losing global influence by neglecting serious foreign policy matters.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) - India’s senior politician and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor has recognized Pakistan’s role in the recent US-Iran ceasefire, calling it a significant diplomatic achievement.

In an interview with India Today, Tharoor stated that in a rapidly changing global environment, Pakistan is playing an effective role, while India appears to lag in diplomatic initiatives.

He noted that US President Donald Trump’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s role in ending the conflict with Iran is surprising and can be seen as a strategic setback for India.

Tharoor said Pakistan is positioning itself as a stabilizing force globally, while India is losing diplomatic ground.

Tharoor criticized India for focusing on trivial domestic issues instead of serious global matters, calling this approach worrying.

He emphasized that remaining silent in a changing world is not wisdom but blind loyalty, urging India to seriously review its foreign policy.

He added that the international system is rapidly evolving, and India could suffer further diplomatic setbacks if it fails to act promptly.

It is worth noting that Shashi Tharoor is a senior Indian politician, former Minister of External Affairs, and acclaimed author.

He served at the United Nations for many years before entering Indian politics, was elected to Parliament on an Indian National Congress ticket, and is recognized for his deep insights on global politics, history, and foreign policy.
