UAE waives visa overstay fines for travelers and residents stranded by flight suspensions and airspace closures due to regional tensions, urging them to follow official updates

ABU DHABI (Dunya News) – The United Arab Emirates’ Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has announced the waiver of visa overstay fines for individuals affected by flight suspensions and airspace closures due to ongoing regional tension.

Officials stated that the measure targets travelers and residents who were unable to leave the country on their scheduled dates due to the current regional situation.

According to the authority, the relief applies to holders of visit visas, tourist visas, or exit permits whose departures were delayed because of canceled or rescheduled flights.

The exemption also covers residents who had canceled their residency permits in preparation to leave the UAE but were prevented from traveling due to disruptions in air operations.

Authorities emphasized that this step aims to protect affected individuals from legal or financial consequences during these exceptional circumstances. The ongoing regional tensions have led to the closure or restriction of airspace in several countries, significantly impacting global air travel and leaving thousands of passengers stranded in various cities.

The federal authority urged affected individuals to stay updated through official channels and government platforms. Officials also noted that the situation is being closely monitored and additional guidance or relief measures could be introduced if necessary.
