Popular Mansehra Tiktoker Javed Mahandri was shot dead in Balakot before iftar during a friendly prank, sparking violent protests and police station arson.

BALAKOT (Web Desk) - A well-known TikToker from Mansehra District, Javed alias Mahandri, was shot dead allegedly over a joke shortly before iftar in the Balakot area, police confirmed.

According to details, the incident occurred in Balakot, where Javed Mahandri had gone to the riverside with friends to break his fast. During a light-hearted exchange, the TikToker reportedly made a joking remark to a friend who had just arrived.

A video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows a seemingly friendly atmosphere with friends engaged in laughter and conversation. However, moments later, one individual present at the scene pulled out a pistol and fired. Mahandri collapsed after being struck by the bullet and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Reports suggest that the alleged suspect is an on-duty police officer who fled the scene following the shooting. Initial investigations indicate that the officer believed the weapon was unloaded, but a bullet in the chamber proved fatal for Mahandri.

Following news of the killing, family members and local residents staged strong protests against the police. Demonstrators blocked the Kaghan Highway, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved. After negotiations with the administration failed, angry protesters vandalized and set fire to the Balakot Police Station.

Javed Mahandri, a resident of Balakot, was widely known for his sense of humor and ability to bring smiles to people of all ages. His comedic videos, uploaded to TikTok by close associates, had gained significant popularity across the Hazara Division.

Station House Officer Syed Israr Shah of Balakot Police Station said the suspect had been identified through the viral video, and a full investigation was underway. He assured that the accused would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, expressed grief over the incident, calling Mahandri a friendly and popular personality whose death was deeply tragic and alarming.
