ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will provide an in-camera briefing to parliamentary leaders regarding the evolving situation in the Gulf region.
He told the Senate that the session will begin 11:30 am on Wednesday.
Speaking in the Senate, the minister said that the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has been tasked with engaging all parliamentary leaders to ensure their participation in the briefing.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that Pakistan stands wholeheartedly with Iran, urging that the matter should not be given a wrong color domestically, and emphasizing efforts to bring the parties back to the negotiating table.
Speaking in the Senate, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan issued its first reaction to the situation on February 28.
He added that news later emerged regarding the martyrdom of Ali Khamenei, after which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif released a statement expressing grief over the tragic development.
He noted that when Iran was attacked in June, Pakistan had also attempted to defuse tensions.
Following the recent attack on Iran, Pakistan once again tried to resolve the matter through backdoor diplomatic engagement.
Dar reiterated that Pakistan stands firmly with Iran. He said the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir played an active and positive role in the situation.
