ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that today is a day of mourning for the Muslim Ummah, as well as for the people of Iran and Pakistan.
In a statement, Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, saying that every Pakistani shares the grief of the Iranian people.
“It is a day of mourning indeed. We stand with Iran in this difficult time,” Naqvi said.
The interior minister urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands and advised that any protests should be carried out peacefully and within the bounds of the law.
Iranian state media has confirmed the death of Ayatollah Khamenei in strikes carried out by the United States and Israel. Authorities in Iran have announced seven days of national holiday and a 40-day mourning period.
