Ramazan moon to align directly above Kaaba tonight

Updated on:

Astronomers stated that on Saturday, February 28, 2026, the moon will be between 87 and 89 percent illuminated.

(Web Desk) - The head of the Astronomical Society has announced that the Ramazan moon is expected to appear directly above the Holy Kaaba tonight at 10:40 pm Saudi Arabian Standard Time.

Astronomers stated that on Saturday, February 28, 2026, the moon will be between 87 and 89 percent illuminated, making it bright and clearly visible in the sky. At that time, the moon will be approximately 11.3 to 11.6 days old, placing it in the middle stage of its 29.5-day lunar cycle following the new moon.

Experts explained that at the specified moment, the moon will align directly above the Kaaba in Makkah. They noted that people who accurately observe the moon’s position at that time can use it as a guide to determine the direction of the Qibla.

Astronomers further said that due to the high level of illumination, lunar craters and surface details may be observed more clearly through telescopes. However, they added that visibility will depend on local weather conditions, and the phenomenon will only be visible for a short period.
