ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Jiang Zaidong, who reaffirmed China’s full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and socio-economic development.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the ambassador of the People's Republic of China called on the prime minister at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the enduring All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China, characterized by deep mutual trust, iron-clad friendship, and shared commitment to common interests.
The prime minister conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, the Chinese leadership, and the people of China on the joyous occasion of the Chinese New Year.
He appreciated China’s consistent and steadfast support for Pakistan on economic, security, and development fronts. In particular, he highlighted the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative and its flagship project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, stressing the need to accelerate ongoing projects under CPEC. He also emphasized enhancing cooperation in agriculture, information technology, mining, and minerals.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong briefed the prime minister on recent developments in bilateral relations and conveyed good wishes from the Chinese leadership. He reiterated China’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and socio-economic progress.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
