Dar, Turkish counterpart discuss regional security amid Afghan tensions

Ishaq Dar informed his Turkish counterpart that Pakistan had delivered an effective and proportionate response to Afghan aggression.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - After Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Turkey has also reached out to Pakistan to discuss the ongoing situation with Afghanistan.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. During the call, the two leaders exchanged views on the current developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Ishaq Dar informed his Turkish counterpart that Pakistan had delivered an effective and proportionate response to what he described as unprovoked Afghan aggression. He stated that under “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq,” Pakistan carried out successful air operations to safeguard its security.

The spokesperson added that both leaders emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the region and agreed to remain in close contact amid the evolving situation.

Earlier, Russia and Iran had also offered to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan as tensions along the border escalated.
