Once regarded as one of the most admired couples in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, the duo’s split had left many fans heartbroken. For decades, followers speculated about what led to their separation.

Recently, the two appeared together on a private TV channel’s show, where they candidly spoke about their past and the circumstances surrounding their divorce.

The couple divorced in 1992. Although Faryal Gohar left Pakistan in 1995, both shared that they never completely cut off communication and continue to hold deep respect for one another.

Faryal further stated that she never believed spouses are each other’s property and emphasized that if someone chooses to leave a relationship, their decision should be respected.

Jamal Shah also recalled a particular incident that further strained their relationship. He revealed that he was attempting to establish an art institute in Islamabad in collaboration with a woman, despite Faryal advising him against working with her, he chose not to follow the advice.

According to him, even the woman’s aunt had cautioned him to maintain distance, but he proceeded with the plan. The project ultimately failed, and during the same period, the couple formally divorced, although marital issues had reportedly begun as early as 1987.
