The tally rose to four in the Super Eight stage when England captain Harry Brook scored a brilliant century against Pakistan

COLOMBO (Dunya News) - A new record for the most centuries in a single edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup has been set during the 2026 tournament.

According to details, the ongoing event—co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka—has already witnessed four centuries, the highest ever in a single edition of the tournament.

Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka struck a century against Australia, while Canada’s Yuvraj Samra reached three figures against New Zealand earlier in the competition.

The record for most centuries in one edition was initially equalled when Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan smashed a ton against Namibia, making it three centuries in the 2026 tournament—surpassing all previous editions.

The tally rose to four in the Super Eight stage when England captain Harry Brook scored a brilliant century against Pakistan, setting a new benchmark in T20 World Cup history.

Prior to this edition, no T20 World Cup had produced more than two centuries.

The inaugural tournament in 2007 featured just one century, while the 2009 edition saw none.

Two centuries were recorded in 2010, followed by one in 2012. The 2014 and 2016 editions each produced two centuries.

In 2021, only one century was scored, while the 2022 tournament witnessed two. Notably, the 2024 edition did not see a single century.

With several matches still to be played, the 2026 tournament could further extend the record, underlining an increasingly aggressive and high-scoring era in T20 cricket.
