DPM Dar calls for diplomatic solution to resolve regional conflicts

Ishaq Dar says that the people of Kashmir should be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with relevant resolutions of UN

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said that Pakistan believes in resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, reaffirming the country’s commitment to peaceful engagement at regional and global levels.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Dar stated that the oppressed people of Kashmir should be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

He emphasized that the longstanding Kashmir dispute must be resolved in line with UN resolutions.

Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, the deputy prime minister said that the country was expanding cooperation with friendly nations across key sectors.

He noted that Pakistan’s relations with the United States had entered a new phase, reflecting renewed engagement and broader collaboration.

Dar further said that efforts were underway to strengthen ties with Bangladesh, adding that Pakistan was actively pursuing its foreign policy objectives through a proactive and dynamic approach.

He also underscored growing engagement with Central Asian states, stating that Pakistan’s relations with the region had gained further momentum.

Referring to the situation in the Middle East, Dar said that Pakistan had joined the Gaza Peace Board and reiterated its principled stance during the board’s meeting.

Commenting on regional developments, the foreign minister expressed hope for improvement in the situation in Iran.

He said that Pakistan desired that all parties resolve their differences through diplomatic means, stressing that dialogue remained the only viable path to lasting peace.
