ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - On the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has taken a significant step toward fully digitalising Hajj operations.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of IT to implement Hajj digitalisation. The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Secretary Religious Affairs Dr Sajid Mahmood Chauhan, Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan, and other senior officials.
Joint Secretary Hajj Muhammad Bakhsh Sangi and Director General National IT Board Dr Khalid Rafiq signed the MoU.
Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that in line with the prime minister’s vision, efforts were under way to make the Hajj process more transparent and convenient. He added that the digital system would eliminate unnecessary delays and human errors while helping achieve international standards.
Meanwhile, Shaza Fatima stated that from next year, an end-to-end digital system — from Hajj application to return home — would be introduced. A simple and user-friendly online Hajj portal will be established for applicants.
Under the agreement, the Pak Hajj mobile app will also be upgraded to make it more accessible and efficient. The portal will ensure effective coordination among stakeholders and adherence to Saudi timelines.
