PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a special development package worth Rs200 billion for the Hazara Division.
The announcement was made during a meeting held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with parliamentarians belonging to Hazara Division, where detailed consultations were conducted regarding the preparation of the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).
During the meeting, participants urged the federal government to dualize the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the National Highway Authority (NHA). The chief minister stated that the provincial government would also provide financial assistance for the road’s expansion to improve travel facilities for the public.
Sohail Afridi directed that Rs50 billion from the total package be specifically allocated for tourism-related projects. He also instructed parliamentarians to hold a separate consultative session to propose schemes for inclusion in the special development plan.
The chief minister further announced the issuance of a notification to upgrade Allai into a separate district. He said the next fiscal year’s development programme would be distinct from previous ones, prioritizing large-scale and public welfare projects, along with the timely completion of ongoing schemes.
Before finalizing the ADP, PC-1 documents of development projects will be prepared, with special focus on underdeveloped districts of the province. The meeting was also attended by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Hazara Division.
