QUETTA (Dunya News) - A militant identified as Saleem Baloch was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Turbat, exposing what officials described as the involvement of individuals listed as “missing persons” in militant activities linked to ‘Fitna al-Hindustan.’
Security sources stated that Saleem Baloch had allegedly been involved in recent attacks carried out in Balochistan on January 31.
Accounts associated with the group on social media reportedly confirmed his death following the clash with security forces. Authorities claim he was actively engaged in armed confrontation when he was killed.
Officials further stated that Baloch’s name had appeared on lists circulated by certain groups highlighting missing persons cases.
They alleged that similar instances have occurred in the past, where individuals listed as missing were later found to have been involved in militant activities.
In previous operations in areas including Mastung, Kalat, and Gwadar, several militants killed during security operations were also reportedly included in such missing persons lists.
Security sources argue that these developments challenge the credibility of narratives surrounding enforced disappearances in some cases.
Analysts cited by officials claim that certain organizations allegedly use the missing persons issue to create a broader narrative, while militant groups exploit grievances to recruit and radicalize youth.
Authorities maintain that ongoing operations are aimed at dismantling networks involved in armed insurgency and restoring stability in the province.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan, stating that operations will continue to target individuals involved in attacks against the state.
