ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Taimur Saleem Jhagra on Sunday said that the government’s claims of economic improvement are baseless and that it has no concrete plan to improve the economy.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he said the latest national poverty statistics are alarming. He said that 22 percent people were living below the poverty line in 2018, which has now increased to 29 percent.

Taimur Jhagra said that the poverty rate has risen sharply over the past 11 years, with the highest increases recorded in Punjab and Sindh. He claimed poverty increased by 41 percent in Punjab and 33 percent in Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that the law and order situation is deteriorating and the country cannot function under such conditions. He called for free and fair elections, the release of political prisoners, and the provision of the best possible medical facilities to the PTI founder Imran Khan.
