LAHORE (Dunya News) - Renowned poet, naat-reciter, and speaker Syed Salman Gilani, who passed away on Saturday, was laid to rest at Mustafa Town Graveyard in Lahore on Sunday.
The funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Ashrafia, led by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Hazrat Maulana Muhib-un-Nabi. The prayers were attended by a large gathering of religious scholars, political leaders, and distinguished personalities including Jamat-e-Islami Deputy Ameer Liaqat Baloch, Dr. Fareed Ahmed Paracha, Maulana Syed Abdul Khabeer Azad and MNA Saif-ul-Maluk Khokhar among others.
Speakers at the funeral, including Maulana Amjad Khan, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi, and Maulana Syed Abdul Khabeer Azad, paid rich tributes to Gilani, highlighting his lifelong contributions to religious scholarship and his steadfast efforts in defending the beliefs of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat and the honor of the Prophet’s companions and Ahl-e-Bayt.
It is pertinent to mention that the late poet had been suffering from a heart condition and was recently hospitalized due to pneumonia. He was later laid to rest at Mustafa Town Graveyard. On behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Minister for Information, DG PID Shafqat Abbas placed a floral wreath on his grave.
