Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti resigned over poor arrangements for the team in Australia, blaming the Pakistan Sports Board for mismanagement and delayed funding.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti has announced his resignation following complaints about the poor accommodation and food arrangements for the national hockey team during their participation in the Pro Hockey League's second phase in Australia.

Speaking to the media, Bugti revealed that he had sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, citing mismanagement by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) as the main reason behind the fiasco.

Baloch also expressed his frustration with the lack of timely funding for the event. “The funds for the Pro League were supposed to come from the PSB, but they failed to release the money on time. The entire mismanagement has been on the part of the Sports Board,” he stated.

He said, despite assurances, the PSB failed to make hotel bookings for the team, causing additional delays and inconveniences.

Bugti that when he personally went to the PSB for assistance, officials claimed it would take two months to process the necessary funds.

In response to the situation, he also announced a two-year ban on national player Ammad Shakeel Butt from both domestic and international hockey, accusing him of contributing to the chaos surrounding the team's participation in the tournament.

The controversy has drawn the attention of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who has taken note of the team's grievances.

He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Commander of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir to form a committee to investigate the matter further.

Additionally, he emphasized that rumors and false information had been spread on social media, which further intensified the situation.

Earlier, the national team's captain had raised serious concerns upon returning from Australia, leading to a significant uproar regarding the management of the team's travel and accommodation.
