ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Compensation cheques have been distributed to the families of those who lost their lives in the suicide attack at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Tarlai area of Islamabad earlier this month.
The attack, which occurred on February 6 during Friday prayers, claimed the lives of 36 people and left many others injured.
According to officials, families of 36 deceased victims belonging to the federal capital have received compensation cheques worth Rs5 million each, as announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition, cheques are being delivered to the families of four victims who hailed from Taunsa Sharif, Talagang, Astore, and Skardu.
The prime minister had announced the financial assistance on February 11 during his visit to the affected Imambargah, pledging Rs5 million for the heirs of each deceased victim.
Authorities continue investigations into the deadly suicide bombing, which targeted worshippers during congregational prayers and resulted in one of the deadliest attacks in the capital in recent years.
